In the modern day, one thing that seems to be unavoidable is Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI. The definition of Artificial Intelligence is “the capability of computer systems or algorithms to imitate intelligent human behavior.” AI has been around for longer than people think, with a big boom coming around the year 2022. The first well known AI came out years ago, with known programs such as Siri with Apple, and even search engines like Google using AI in their searches. With a large increase in AI usage in the past few years it leaves a user to wonder, what are the capabilities of AI and where is it going?
In 2026, AI can be integrated and used in just about any way. AI can create photos, videos, answer questions, and more. The uses of AI programs seem to be endless but it is not without its pros and cons. With the current use of AI, it is useful for small questions or inquiries when stuck, and can even be used as a tool to enhance work such as writing or editing. AI is also an amazing tool to help brainstorm or come up with ideas or give you clear concise information about a topic. However, with the continuing upgrades and changes to AI, there are also many problems that arise from it. Evidence shows that Artificial Intelligence heavily consumes natural resources, which many have pointed to as a long term issue regarding it. The argument can also be made that AI is removing creativity from many, especially of a younger demographic, so while Artificial Intelligence has many pros, it does not come without its cons.
While AI is an exceptional tool, some users use it in a way which is deemed wrong. Artificial Intelligence seems to be frowned on in a creative space, such as with video or art, with many users posting AI art which is labeled by users as “AI Slop,” due to its inauthentic inhuman origins. This stigma also goes for video, while AI art is posted to many social media platforms without origin or credit, AI video is a much more dangerous game. Many users have used AI video in many bad ways, as AI video sometimes, much like the art, can be hard to discern between fiction and reality.
It is clear that Artificial Intelligence is sticking around, so that leaves the question of where is it going? In the next 10 years, it is estimated that Artificial Intelligence will be more integrated into our day to days lives more than ever before, with more presence in jobs, in businesses and in business models. They are also discovering ways to cheapen the production of AI to better produce, with more evolutions to programs like META and ChatGPT coming everyday. The future can somewhat be seen from now, with AI even being embedded in products like the Meta AI Glasses. This can be further expected in the future involving the creation of many products, including computers. It is also worth noting that over 60 countries have developed national AI strategies to better understand and use AI to the best of its capabilities.
Artificial Intelligence, better known as AI, is an unavoidable presence in the modern day. While AI is an amazing tool and resource, there are many arguments made for it, and against it. With a negative reputation in creative spaces, but a positive one in business spaces. The continuous evolution of Artificial Intelligence is nothing to shy away from, as staying informed is the best way to combat or embrace the powerhouse that is AI in the 21st century.
